1890s French Vernis Martin Miniature Drawers Cabinet
A beautiful antique Vernis Martin miniature chest of drawers, crafted in France around 1890 and made in Paris. This charming boudoir piece features two drawers, both lined with a luxurious purple fabric, and retains its two original knobs. The cabinet is adorned with exquisite hand-painted scenes on all sides, except for the back, showcasing the elegance of Vernis Martin craftsmanship.
Underneath, the cabinet still bears the original label from Maison Guillemot, a Parisian shop that specialized in furniture and gift items. I was even able to trace a photograph of the shop's owners, taken for their business at the time—an interesting historical detail!
The cabinet is in good condition with only a few minor signs of age, which add to its charm. I’ve decorated it with doll accessories to show how it can be used in an antique doll display, but it would also make a lovely addition to your personal collection of trinkets or jewelry. This versatile piece is a must-have for collectors of French antiques.
