Antique Mounted two-headed Taxidermy Kitten
This antique mounted taxidermy features a rare and extraordinary specimen: a small two-headed kitten with three eyes. The piece is exceptionally well-mounted, capturing even the smallest details, and is preserved under a bell jar, though there is a tiny crack in the neck. What sets this kitten apart from other antique two-headed taxidermy pieces is its unique eye configuration. Typically, these rare finds have four eyes—two on each head. However, this kitten has two heads, with one cyclopean eye in the center and one eye on each side. It’s an unparalleled example, and I’ve never encountered another like it.
The body appears to be filled with straw, Originating from France, this specimen was mounted in Paris and remained with the same family for generations until the heirs, slightly unnerved by its appearance, decided to part with it.
Even the tiny nails are still intact, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship. This is a truly unique and remarkable piece of taxidermy—an antique two-headed kitten with three eyes. Such extraordinary specimens are exceedingly rare, with only a few known examples in museums or private collections.
