Late 17th to early 18th century child’s Bonnet from France
One of the most special and beautiful items I have ever come across: a late 17th to early 18th century child’s hat from France, dating back to 1690-1720. This hat is incredibly unique with its intricate and delicate details. Crafted from pink silk brocade, it features small feathers adorned with bronze gold-colored spangles that dance up and down when moved, as seen in the video. The hat also boasts beautiful gold bullion wire and tiny sequins with beads.
Pink was a very popular color during this period, and it wouldn’t be surprising if this exquisite piece once belonged to a noble child or came from a wealthy family. Despite signs of age, as seen in the photos, it has remarkably survived for hundreds of years. This treasure is perfect for a museum or a collector and can also be used on a large doll. The doll shown in the photos is slightly too small, but it demonstrates how the hat would have looked on a child of that era. Remember, people were much smaller and frailer hundreds of years ago compared to today.
The photos speak for themselves.
